Destroy media containing cardholder information when it is no longer needed for business or legal reasons:

• Obtain the periodic media destruction policy and verify it covers all media with cardholder data.

Additionally perform the following:

PCI-9.10.2: Verify that electronic media is destroyed beyond recovery by using a military wipe program to delete files, or via degaussing or otherwise physically destroying the media.
