Application of forensics to computers
Forensics, the science of criminology, has only recently begun to consider its application to computers.FN46 However, it does offer the possibility of analyzing computer printouts, computer tapes, and other computer media to prove or disprove certain allegations of fact. Traditional forensics may also be important. The key evidence to establish that a defendant entered false information into a computer system may be a fingerprint on a punchcard, or a signature on an order to produce certain fraudulent documents.FN47
More modern digital forensics involve the discovery, protecting, and recovery of digitally based evidence from disparet applications and support infrastructure.
