Some jurisdictions have a specified statute of limitations for computer crimes. Others leave it to the general provisions of the state's penal code to define the statute of limitations.FN14 Where the state of limitations is left to the general provisions of the state's penal code, it is important to immediately determine if the acts of the defendant fall within the statute. Where there is a continuing course of conduct, the authority is split as to the date from which the statute of limitations runs.FN15
