Putting client at ease

The client sitting before the attorney at the time of the office interview may be scared of everyone, including the attorney, unsure about his or her future, and in many ways a psychological wreck.FN81 Therefore, making sure the client is treated respectfully by all members of the office staff, that his or her comfort is attended to, and that psychological contact, through such things as complete attention from the attorney and eye contact, is used to put the client at ease as quickly as possible. These efforts are likely to make the substantive efforts of the attorney much more fruitful.
