The possibility of restitution

Often the victim in a computer crime case is willing to end the case once it has received restitution for whatever loss it has suffered.FN78 The victim has little to gain from a trial. In addition, the victim often anticipates cost and bad publicity consequences if the case goes to trial. Therefore, an offer of restitution may facilitate a plea-bargain considerably, if the defendant enlists the victim's support for restitution.
