In English law, the original 1677 statute of frauds was repealed in 1954 by the Law Reform (Enforcement of Contracts) Act, 2 & 3 Eliz. II, c. 34, except for its suretyship and real property provisions. However, it remains in force throughout the United States and in much of the British Commonwealth outside the United Kingdom.
